Student / Programme Doctorate at D-MAVT
Additional information
Jules completed his Master's degree in microbiology at ETH Zurich. He has experience in agricultural research and phytopathology. As Jules started to forage wild mushrooms he fell in love with fungi, their different ways of life and their diverse role in the ecosystem. In his PhD project, Jules is interested in how the potential of these organisms can be used to find sustainable solutions to global health problems. In particular, he will investigate how filamentous fungi can improve the treatment of fecal sludge by reducing pathogens and transforming the material into a usable resource. Prior to joining the Global Health Engineering group, Jules worked for several years at Agroscope, the Swiss Federal Agricultural Research Station. In his free time, Jules enjoys growing fruit and vegetables, foraging for mushrooms, hiking and reading.
